We need a legislator with real life experience to represent us in City Hall.
I'm Mike Murphy, a candidate for our Sunset/Parkside seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. I moved to San Francisco from Salamanca, NY (where I lived on the Seneca Nation Reservation) to be with my college sweetheart Kim in 1996. We married in 2000, lived in the Inner Sunset and in the Presidio for a couple of years before buying a home in the Outer Sunset in 2006. Our son Finn was born in SF in 2007. He attended Sunset Elementary and now is a 6th grade student at A.P. Giannini. In the City, I’ve worked as a gallery manager, as a program representative and instructor in the English Language Program at UC Berkeley Ext, as a building trades laborer, and, presently, as an Ecoliteracy teacher in SF Unified School District’s Early Education Program. We are future focused. I’ll bring that future focus and my life, work, and activism experience to the Board of Supervisors as your local legislator serving the Sunset and Parkside neighborhoods.
The Sunset and Parkside have been abandoned to City Hall political games for far too long. Political insiders have sold us out. Career-minded, go-along-to-get-along politicians have turned their backs on us to do the bidding of their big-money donors.
We deserve a real say in decisions that affect our lives, our families, our futures.
We deserve a real representative democracy that works, not one that wastes.
We can do better than trickle-down, top-down decisions made by a few select investors.
As your Supervisor, I’ll bring a lifetime of work experience—as a civil servant, educator, husband, and father—to the job.
I will work for you and for your family, for the good of the City—not for special interests.
